Our story
Small beginnings, made fruitful
Way down north of Iloilo is Sariri, Badiangan, where our family's ancestors lived and farmed. Tenyente Boni, the great-grandfather, raised eleven children on this land. Years later, when his children grew old, and the family thought of selling their inherited land, his grandson Eddie bought it for sentimental reasons. It was his Lolo's.
Eddie had built a career as a civil engineer in Manila, but the barrio and the simple life of farming never left him. When the Sariri Baptist Church youth needed a place for their summer camp, he started planting high-value crops to support it. In less than two years Ephrathah Farms became a reality, and Eddie retired early to come home.
The name comes from Micah 5:2: "But you Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come from me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." Like Sariri, small and hardly known. Like a growing infant, nurtured by the Lord, Ephrathah Farms is blessed to become fruitful.
